fripSide's best rank to date; Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 2000%'s Masato Hijirikawa is #2

According to Oricon's singles ranking chart for the May 6-12 week, the musical unit fripSide's newest single "sister's noise" sold about 27,000 copies in its first week to rank #1. This is fripSide's best showing on either the singles or album chart; the unit's "only my railgun" single ranked at #3 in November 2009, and the infinite synthesis album ranked at #8 in December 2010.

"Sister's noise" is the opening theme song for A Certain Scientific Railgun S television anime series, which premiered in Japan on April 12. Funimation is streaming the series in North America as it airs. The single went on sale with the second song "I'm believing you" on May 8 in a regular edition for 1,260 yen (US$12.40). A limited-edition version with a promotional video and a making-of video on an extra DVD sold for 1,890 yen (US$18.60).

The unit fripSide consists of voice actress Yoshino Nanjō who handles the vocals and producer/composer/programmer Satoshi Yaginuma. The unit performed the two opening themes for the first A Certain Scientific Railgun series, as well as the opening theme for the original video anime.

"Idol Song Masato Hijirikawa," the song performed by the Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 2000% anime character Masato Hijirikawa (as voiced by Kenichi Suzumura), sold about 22,000 copies to rank #2 on the weekly chart. It debuted on May 8 and ranked #1 on the daily chart — the first Uta no Prince Sama single to accomplish this feat.

In addition to the cover art by character designer Mitsue Mori, the first copies of the single came with an "Idol Episode Card." The CD single is the second of seven weekly singles from different characters; the first one by Shō Kurusu (Hiro Shimono) ranked #4 in its first week by selling 22,193 copies.
