Higurashi Pachinko Game to Include New Original Anime

New anime of Yoigoshi (Beyond Midnight) arc in Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Itadaki

The amusement machine company Daiichi unveiled Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Itadaki, a new pachinko machine based on the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Higurashi: When They Cry) suspense franchise, on Tuesday, and revealed that the machine includes a new original anime. Unlike the slot machine game that Ōizumi previously created, the new pachinko game will include the "Matsuri Bayashi" arc, as well as the newly animated "Yoigoshi" (Beyond Midnight) arc.

The Yoigoshi arc is the first in the franchise to be set in the current Heisei era. Mimori drew the epilogue manga in Square Enix's Monthly G Fantasy magazine from 2006 to 2007, and Yen Press published its two book volumes in North America. Yen Press describes the story, which takes place in 2006:

In the twenty years since the Hinamizawa disaster, the small village has become a literal ghost town. Terrible rumors about the mysterious gas leak that claimed hundreds of lives have kept even the most curious at bay. But on this night, fate has led five strangers to the abandoned mountain hamlet - among them a certain Mion Sonozaki. As the footsteps of the living echo through the abandoned halls of Furude shrine, the sleeping demons of Hinamizawa stir once again...

07th Expansion's original Higurashi no Naku Koro ni visual novel software revolved around murders that coincide with an annual festival in a quiet rural village. The software inspired two television anime series, several video anime projects, two live-action films, and manga adaptations by several artists. Another new original video anime project tied to the pachinko game, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kaku ~Outbreak~, is also being produced.
