Aniplex USA Adds Silver Spoon, Servant x Service Anime

Company acquires streaming, home video rights for both summer series

Aniplex of America announced on Thursday that it has licensed both the anime adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's (Fullmetal Alchemist) Silver Spoon manga and the anime adaptation of Karino Takatsu's Servant × Service manga. The company revealed that both series will be available for streaming when they air this summer, and plans to release both series on home video. Aniplex of America will announce details of the home video release at a later date.

Aniplex of America is also streaming an English-subtitled trailer for Silver Spoon.

Tomohiko Ito (Occult Academy, Sword Art Online) is directing Silver Spoon with assistant director Otomi Deai at A-1 Pictures. Taku Kishimoto (Bunny Drop) is writing the scripts, while Jun Nakai (Mardock Scramble films, The Sacred Blacksmith) is serving as character designer and chief animation director. Shusei Murai (Allison & Lillia, Aiura) is scoring the music. miwa will perform the "Kiss you" opening theme, while Sukima Switch will be performing the "Hello Especially" ending theme song.

The original manga follows a boy's life in an agricultural school. Ryōhei Kimura (Kids on the Slope's Kaoru) and Marie Miyake (Penguindrum's Ringo) lead the cast which also includes Tooru Sakurai, Ayahi Takagaki, Nobunaga Shimazaki, and Masayuki Shōji.

The anime will premiere in Japan on July 11 on Fuji TV's Noitamina block.

Yasutaka Yamamoto (Valkyria Chronicles, Squid Girl Season 2, Problem children are coming from another world, aren't they?) is directing Servant × Service at A-1 Pictures off of scripts by Taketo Shimoyama (Bleach, Gintama, Gintama'). Terumi Nishii (Kimi no Iru Machi, Penguindrum) is adapting Takatsu's character designs for animation, Half HP Studio is handling the sound production, and Akiko Fujita (Blade of the Immortal, Happy Kappy, Chibi Devi!) is serving as sound director. monaca (Working!!) is composing the music.

The slice-of-life comedy manga centers on the employees of a government ward office in a city in Hokkaido. The story follows the daily lives of the health and welfare division members. The series stars Ai Kayano, Tatsuhisa Suzuki, Mai Nakahara, Aki Toyosaki, Takahiro Sakurai, Rumi Ookubo, and Mikako Takahashi.

The anime will premiere in Japan on July 4.
