Dinosaur Manga Gon Inspires 2nd Korean/Japanese CG Season

52 11-minute episodes planned for airing by 2015

Korean production company Daewon Media announced that it is making a second computer-animated season inspired by Masashi Tanaka's dinosaur manga Gon. The manga's publisher Kodansha is collaborating on the new season of 52 11-minute episodes, which should air by 2015. The story follows a plucky little dinosaur as it makes its way through the great wilderness with other animals.

Tanaka serialized the manga, with its signature lack of dialogue or sound effects, in Kodansha's Morning magazine from 1991 to 2002. He then resumed the manga in color in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine last year. (The manga is on hiatus now, but will return to Monthly Afternoon later this year in black-and-white.) Paradox Press and CMX Manga once published the manga in North America, and Kodansha USA is the latest to print the seven volumes from the manga's first run.

The first television season premiered in Gintama's former timeslot on TV Tokyo last year. It also aired in South Korea, and its producers plan to bring it to Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore this year.
