Gargantia Character Design Contest Winners Unveiled

The official website for the Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet anime unveiled the 12 winners of its original character design contest on Monday. The animators are taking these fan-submitted designs, refining them, and inserting them into next Sunday's series finale as crew members of the Gargantia fleet.

Director Kazuya Murata and the Production I.G animation staff judged the entries. Because there were so many illustrations of extraordinarily high level of quality, the judges decided to expand the number of winners to 12. The winners will receive Gargantia-related merchandise. The science-fiction anime premiered in Japan on April 7, and Crunchyroll is currently streaming the series outside of Japan.
