AVCon 2013 Starts Today in Adelaide

Adelaide anime and video game convention hold the Australian premiere of Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo tonight and host Jessica Nigri, Chris Cason and Spike Spencer for their July 12-14's convention.

AVCon will take place from Friday the 12th to Sunday the 14th of July 2014 at the Adelaide Convention Centre in South Australia. The event encompasses pop-culture, anime, video gaming, cosplay and art with a large Gaming Hall, Exhibitor Hall, Maid Cafe, Indie Games Room, Retro Museum and Artist Alley.

Tickets cost $60 for the weekend and $35 for a single day and can be purchased at the door.

Spike Spencer

Most famously known for the role of Shinji Ikari in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Spike Spencer voices characters that range from frightened school kids to insane psychopaths. He has voiced Ginta Toramizu in MÄR, Koushaku "Papillon" Chouno in Buso Renkin, Rolo Lamperouge in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2 and Hanataro Yamada in Bleach. Spike has also provided voice acting for several video games including Arakune in Blazblue, Wukong in League of Legends, Excellus in Fire Emblem: Awakening and several roles in both World of Warcraft and Bioshock Infinite.

If you would like to see Spike, on Saturday he will be hosting "How to be a Frickin Genius Voice Actor, Step One" at 11:30am in the Internode Main Hall, "Don't Kill Your Date (and Other Cooking Tips)" at 8:00pm in the Panel Theatre and on Sunday he will be holding "What Happens At The Con, Stays At The Con...?" at 2:00pm in the Internode Main Hall.

Chris Cason

An accomplished voice actor that has supplied his talent for over 130 shows and works as both an ADR Director and script writer. Chris' roles include Gluttony in Fullmetal Alchemist, Chamo in Negima! Reginald Drummond in The Sacred Blacksmith and Rinsuke Akai in Black Blood Brothers. If you have watched the dub of Bamboo Blade, Birdy the Mighty: Decode or Negima! you might have enjoyed his work as the ADR Director of those titles and Chris is also responsible for English scripts on Black Cat, One Piece and Witchblade.

Chris will be holding "Chris Cason's Tales from the Script" on Saturday at 1:30pm in Panel Room B and on Sunday you can find Chris at "Chris Cason's Voice Acting Q & A Jamboree" at 10:30am in the Internode Main Hall and "Anime: Behind the Scenes with Chris Cason" at 2:30pm in the Panel Room.

Jessica Nigri

Jessica Nigri is an American Cosplay actress and promotional model who has become more prominent after winning a competition to portray the role of Juliet Starling from Lollipop Chainsaw in 2012. Jessica is known for her cosplay at convention appearances including Pikachu (Pokémon), Rikku (Final Fantasy X) and Rainbow Dash (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic).

Jessica will be giving one talk on Saturday, the self titled "Jessica Nigri Panel" at 3:30pm in the Internode Main Hall.

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo

Fourteen years after third impact, Shinji Ikari awakens to a world he does not remember. He hasn't aged. Much of Earth is laid in ruins, Nerv has been dismantled, and people who he once protected have turned against him. Befriending the enigmatic Kaworu Nagisa, Shinji continues the fight against the angels and realizes the fighting is far from over, even when it could be against his former allies. The characters' struggles continue amid the battles against the angels and each other, spiraling down to what could inevitably be the end of the world.
