Yen Press Licenses Blood Lad Spin-Off Manga Bloody Brat

Kanata Yoshino's 1-volume manga with short stories, 4-panel stories to ship in March 2014

Yen Press has confirmed with ANN that it will release the manga series Bloody Brat (Buratto Buradora), a spin-off of Yūki Kodama's Blood Lad manga. The manga is slated to ship on March 25, 2014.

Kodama wrote the spin-off and Kanata Yoshino, who won the semi-grand prize at the Kadokawa Manga Rookie Awards in 2011, drew the art. The spin-off features short stories and four-panel manga. Yoshino also drew the BuraBuratto Buradora manga, and provided illustrations for a Blood Lad novel. Kadokawa Shoten published the Bloody Brat manga in September 2012, the BuraBuratto Buradora manga in Japan last month, and the Blood Lad novel in Japan in June.

Kodama's vampire comedy manga Blood Lad debuted in 2009, and the ninth compiled book volume shipped in Japan in July. Yen Press added the original series last year, and the company released the third compiled volume in May.

An anime adaptation of the original manga began airing this summer, and Viz Media has been streaming the episodes on its website and on Hulu. Viz Media's license includes home media, download-to-own, and streaming rights. The series will be stream on Neon Alley in 2014, and will also get a Blu-ray Disc and DVD release in 2014.
