Manifest 2013 Starts This Friday

posted on by Jon Hayward
The Melbourne Anime Festival is running from this Friday the 16th to Sunday the 18th of August at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Manifest will be hosting special guests Kyle Hebert, Tiffany Grant, Matt Greenfield and artist Jeffrey "Chamba" Cruz. The yearly anime ball Amaranth will also be taking place on Friday night.

Manifest runs from Friday to Sunday and has a multitude of events including one of the largest traders halls for Australian anime conventions.

Kyle Hebert

Kyle Hebert is a voice actor most famously known for his role as the adult Gohan and the Narrator of Dragon Ball Z. While he started as a radio announcer on Radio Disney, in 2005 Kyle changed cities and careers moving from Dallas to Los Angeles to pursue voice acting. He is known for his roles at Kamina in Gurren Lagann, Ryuji "Bon" Suguro in Blue Exorcist, Kiba Inuzuka from Naruto Shippūden and Ryu from Street Fighter IV.

Tiffany Grant

Tiffany is quoted as being the first voice actor hired by ADV back in 1994 and since then she has been responsible for the iconic voice of Asuka Langley in Neon Genesis Evanglion and more recently the Rebuild of Evangelion film series. However Tiffany has over 160 voice acting credits to her name including Koko in tsuritama, Christiane Friedrich in Majikoi - Oh! Samurai Girls and Kaorin in Azumanga Daioh. And she has a couple of English translation scripts under her belt with over 200 episodes encompassing series like Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy, Infinite Stratos and Angelic Layer.

Matt Greenfield

Matt is an anime producer, part-time voice actor and co-founder of anime company A.D. Vision which, among many other titles, first released Neon Genesis Evangelion outside Japan. Since ADV Films shut down Matt has continued to produce and localise anime through his production company Seraphim Digital in Houston, Texas. Matt has handled ADR scripting and directed the English dub of over 100 different anime series including Excel Saga, Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040 and Neon Genesis Evangelion and has personally provided voice acting in a much smaller number of titles.

Jeffrey "Chamba" Cruz

An artist that goes hand in hand with the Udon Entertainment studio, Jeffrey Cruz is best known for his Street Fighter comic run for UDON and his CAPCOM artwork for the company in general. As such he has had art pieces in each of UDON's "best of" compilations, has completed comics for Bandai Namco's "Shiftylook" webcomic site and his work can be see on his deviantart page.

Usually we would be including far more information on particular events and timing, however Manifest's schedule is incomplete at the time of writing this article and as such we cannot give you said information. So here's a couple of highlights.

After the success of last year's Maid Cafe, Hanabee and DokiDoki Station are again running the Maid Cafe at Manifest. The maids will be stationed inside a giant tent in the expo hall and you can view a 'preview' on Hanabee's facebook page.

And as per usual, the Manifest Mecha Workshop will be running over the weekend and is well worth your time.

There will be new title announcements over the weekend, but we cannot say when. We here at ANN hope to keep you updated as quickly as possible.
