Naruto Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals Returns in Rerun (Updated)

posted on by Dave Riley

TV Tokyo announced on Wednesday that the Naruto Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals (Naruto SD: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden) anime is returning in a new series on October 1. Naruto SD: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden Mō Iccho will air every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.

The first television series adapted Kenji Taira's Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden gag comedy manga, which centered on the secondary Naruto character Rock Lee. The "SD" in the title stands for "Sugoi Doryoku," or "Super Determined." ("SD" traditionally means "super-deformed.")

Studio Pierrot, which also produces the main Naruto anime, animated the first series. The earlier series ran from April 2012 to March of this year. Crunchyroll streamed the anime into several countries as it aired in Japan.

TV Tokyo's Tuesday 6:00 p.m. timeslot is currently held by the Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter anime, which premiered last October.

Update: The official Twitter account for Naruto Spin-Off: Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals clarified that Naruto SD: Rock Lee no Seishun Full-Power Ninden Mō Iccho is not a new work, but a broadcast of selected episodes from the original anime series. Thanks, Rick S.
