God Eater 2's 5-Minute Store Promo Video Streamed

Namco Bandai Games began streaming a five-minute store promotional video for the God Eater 2 game on Friday. The video begins by boasting that the earlier God Eater games sold 1.3 million copies, and adds that the long-awaited new entry in the franchise is finally complete. The promotional video showcases the animation sequences that the anime studio ufotable produced, and then introduces the game's multi-player and single-player mechanics, new weapons, the near-future setting, expanded character customization options, and the character episode side quests that accompany the main story.
The video introduces the cast in the game's story:
- Daisuke Namikawa as Julius
- Mamiko Noto as Ciel
- Makoto Naruse as Romeo
- Toshiyuki Morikawa as Gilbert
- Emiri Katō as Nana
- Houko Kuwashima as Yuno (with yu-yu providing the singing voice and the main theme song "Hikari no Aria")
The story of God Eater 2 is set in 2074, three years after the events of the original game. The world is still threatened by the mysterious living entities known as "Aragami." The sequel's protagonist is a "next-generation God Eater" fighting against the Aragami; he (or she, depending on the character creation process) is a member of the Fenrir organization's special forces unit Blood (Buraddo) who just arrived in the Far East sector. A mysterious red rain has begun fall in this area filled with more ferocious forms of Aragami and humans suffering from an incurable ailment.
God Eater 2 will be first full sequel to the original 2010 game that sold more than 600,000 copies. (The God Eater Burst update shipped in October 2010 and brought the franchise sales total to more than 1.3 million.) D3 Publisher released God Eater Burst in English on the PSP in March 2011.
ufotable created an animated prologue for the first God Eater game and also produced the opening animation footage for God Eater Burst and God Eater 2.
God Eater 2 will ship for PS Vita and PSP in Japan on November 14. The first copies will include a product code for a premium character set, and those who pre-order will receive a product code for the original Fenrir costume (male and female).
