Adaptation of Natsumi Eguchi's supernatural manga to premiere in January

A Tokyo stage event for the television anime adaptation of Natsumi Eguchi's Hōzuki no Reitetsu supernatural manga announced the main staff on Saturday. The dark comedy revolves around the fierce god aide to the Great King Yama, Hōzuki. Calm and super-sadistic, he tries to resolve problems that often occur in Hell.

Hiro Kaburaki (Kimi ni Todoke, My Little Monster) is directing the series (and its dialogue recording) at Wit Studio (Attack on Titan, Hal) with Norihiro Naganuma (Kimi ni Todoke, My Little Monster) as assistant director. Midori Gotou (Loups=Garous - The Motion Picture, Guilty Crown) is in charge of the series scripts and setting, while Hirotaka Katō (Hal) is serving as character designer and chief animation director. TOMISIRO (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne) is composing music with Starchild Records, and Sound Team Don Juan is producing the sound.

A group of the series' main cast members known as Jigoku no Sata All Stars (Hell's Affairs All Stars) will perform the opening theme song, and Sumire Uesaka (voice of Peach Maki) will sing the ending theme song.

The anime's official website also added images of the main characters for the cast revealed in August:

Hiroki Yasumoto as Hōzuki

Takashi Nagasako as Enma Daiō

Daisuke Hirakawa as Momotarō

Yumiko Kobayashi as Shiro

Hiroki Gotō as Kakisuke

Tetsuya Kakihara as Karauri

Tōko Aoyama as Nasubi

Eri Kitamura as Okō

Kōji Yusa as Hakutaku

The anime will premiere in Japan in January. The stage event previewed the first episode, and Yasumoto narrated the beginning of the episode live during the event.

Eguchi began the manga in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2011, and Kodansha published the tenth compiled volume on August 23. The manga was nominated for the fifth Manga Taisho Award last year, and was also chosen as a jury selection at the 16th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards last year.
