Madoka Magica Umaibo Snack's Promo Parodies Film's Trailer

posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Sweet, salty corn snacks available now in Namco arcade crane games in Japan

Namco began streaming a promotional video for the crossover between its line of Umaibo puffed corn snacks with the Gekijō-ban Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica [Shinpen]: Hangyaku no Monogatari (Madoka Magica The Movie -Rebellion-) film on Wednesday.

In the video, which parodies the trailer for the film, Homura cries, saying, “Even though it's crunchy... Even though it's juicy... I can't get anyone to understand this salty sweetness!” She then encounters a horde of Kyubeys, each one also donning the face of the Umaibo snack's mascot.

The specially-packaged Umaibo, which feature the mascot Umaemon dressed as the various Madoka Magica girls, come in cheese flavor and beef tongue flavor. Each one also comes packaged with one of two exclusive A4 size clear files. The snacks and other goods are available to catch in crane games in Namco arcades in Japan. The campaign will last from October 25 to November 26.

The third film opened in Japan on Saturday. Aniplex announced at Japan Expo in Paris that the film will debut in France in November, followed by the United States and Canada on December 6. Aniplex aims to release the third film in still more countries worldwide, just as it did for the first two films.
