Ghibli & Miyazaki's The Wind Rises Lands on Golden Globes' Short List

Hirokazu Kore-eda's Like Father, Like Son also included in 58-film foreign language nominee list

Hayao Miyazaki's 11th and final film The Wind Rises is one of 58 films included on the 71st Annual Golden Globe's Best Foreign Language Film category's short list.

The Wind Rises is one of two animated films submitted (alongside France's Ernest and Celestine), and is competing against Hirokazu Kore-eda's Soshite Chichi ni Naru (Like Father, Like Son) film. The Wind Rises was also submitted for the Best Animated Feature award — but not for Best Foreign Language Film — for the 86th Academy Awards to be held on March 2, 2014.

The other 56 films submitted for nomination include:

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association will announce the final nominees on December 12, and will host the awards on January 12, 2014.
