BONES' Space Dandy Anime Gets Another Manga Online

posted on by Egan Loo
Manga to run on Shōnen Sirius magazine's "Suiyōbi no Sirius"

The February issue of Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine announced on Thursday that BONES' Space Dandy television anime series is inspiring another manga. This manga will run on the magazine's "Suiyōbi no Sirius" (Wednesday Sirius) section on the Niconico service. More details "can be, should be announced in the near future."

Artists Sung-woo Park (Kurokami/Black God, Oracle of Secret Shrine Maiden) and RED ICE launched the first Space Dandy manga in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine on December 20. Masafumi Harada drafted the story.

Space Dandy is the upcoming science-fiction comedy series from director Shinichiro Watanabe (Macross Plus, Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Kids on the Slope) and studio BONES.

The story revolves around Dandy (Ian Sinclair/Junichi Suwabe), an alien-hunter. His job is to seek out new aliens never seen before, and receives a reward whenever he finds a new species. His mission is to find those new species faster than anyone else as he travels the galaxy. Together with the bucket-of-bolts robot QT (Alison Viktorin/Uki Satake) and the dimwit alien Meow (Joel McDonald/Hiroyuki Yoshino) he picked up along the way, he comes into contact with new planets and their inhabitants.

The anime will premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami block with an English dub at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 4. The series will then air in Japan on January 5 at 11:00 p.m. Funimation will also stream the series online with Japanese audio, and the company also has home video rights for the series.
