Toaru Hikūshi e no Koiuta series to premiere on January 6

Media distribution service Crunchyroll announced on Monday that it will stream the Toaru Hikūshi e no Koiuta television anime series under the title The Pilot's Love Song. Crunchyroll will stream the series on Mondays starting on January 6 at 10:00 a.m. EST for premium members in the United States, Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Central America, South America, the United Kingdom, Ireland, German-speaking Europe, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark.

The television anime adaptation of Koroku Inumura's light novel series will premiere in Japan on Tokyo MX on January 6.

The 2009-2011 five-volume light novel series is set in the same world as Inumura's To Aru Hikūshi e no Tsuioku (Recollection of a Certain Airship Pilot/The Princess and the Pilot) novel and anime film, although it is set earlier with a different cast of characters.

Toshimasa Suzuki (Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, Dance in the Vampire Bund, Heroic Age) is directing the anime off scripts supervised by Shinichi Inotsume (The Unlimited - Hyōbu Kyōsuke, Hayate the Combat Butler, Ristorante Paradiso). Hiroki Harada (Sasami-san@Ganbaranai, Romeo × Juliet, Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal) is designing the characters. Aoi Yūki and Ayana Taketatsu's singing unit petit milady will perform the opening theme song.

The story of love and aerial combat follows a former prince who lost everything to a revolution, and a girl who became the symbol for the revolution. The orphaned prince, now renamed Kalel, embarks on a one-way journey to discover the ends of the heavens. Aboard the levitating island of Isura, he meets a girl named Claire.

The anime stars Aoi Yūki as Claire Cruz, Ayana Taketatsu as Ariel Albus, Kaito Ishikawa as Ignacio Axis, and Natsuki Hanae as Kalel Albus/Carl La El. petit milady (a unit made up of voice actresses Aoi Yūki and Ayana Taketatsu) will perform the opening theme "azurite," while female musical group Akai Kōen will perform the ending theme, "Kaze ga Shitteru" (The Wind Knows).
