Dual audio releases for all 4 this June; Code:Breaker to get Blu-ray/DVD combo

North American anime distributor Funimation announced on Friday that it acquired the home video rights for the Date A Live, Red Data Girl, Karneval, and Code:Breaker anime series. Funimation added that all four will be English-dubbed for a dual audio release this June. Red Data Girl will be on DVD, while Code:Breaker will be available in a Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo.

In Date A Live, an ordinary high school boy named Shidō Itsuka meets a girl who has been rejected by a devastated world. The girl, who Shidō names "Tohka," happens to be one of the Spirits, the beings who wiped out much of humanity 30 years ago. The only way to seal her up her is to date her.

Keitaro Motonaga (Getbackers, Jormungand) directed the first Spring 2013 anime season based on Koushi Tachibana's light novels at AIC Plus+ with visual director Hisashi Saito (Haganai, Heaven's Lost Property). Hideki Shirane (Hayate the Combat Butler!!, Queen's Blade: Rebellion) was charge of the series scripts, and Takaaki Suzuki (Strike Witches, Last Exile) advised on the world setting, as he has done other anime and manga. Satoshi Ishino (Excel Saga, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu) designed the characters based on Tsunako's original novel illustrations. Mika Akitaka (Martian Successor Nadesico, Galaxy Fraulein Yuna) designed the mecha, and Go Sakabe (Gosick theme songs) scored the soundtrack with sound director Yasunori Ebina (A Certain Magical Index, Naruto) at Nippon Columbia.

The modern fantasy story of Red Data Girl revolves around Izumiko (voiced by Saori Hayami), a girl raised within the confines of Tamakura Shrine, one of the Kumano shrines that are part of a World Heritage site. However, after Izumiko spent practically her entire life at Kumano until middle school, she wants to become a normal girl. It was decided that she and her childhood friend Miyuki (voiced by Kouki Uchiyama) would enroll in Hōjō High School in Tokyo. On a school trip to Tokyo, a mysterious entity known as Himegami appears and a terrible incident occurs. Izumiko's family carries a great secret that Izumiko is about to learn.

Toshiya Shinohara (Black Butler, InuYasha films, The Book of Bantorra) directed this Spring 2013 adaptation of Noriko Ogiwara's novels, and Michiko Yokote (Bleach, Gintama, Princess Tutu) handled the scripts. Minako Shiba (Black Butler, .hack franchise, Noir, Letter Bee) adapted Mel Kishida's original character designs. Musicians myu and Masumi Itou (Bungaku Shōjo) scored the soundtrack.

Karneval follows Nai, a mysterious young boy who knows nothing other than his name and Karoku. With nothing but Karoku's bracelet from "Circus" to go on, Nai set out in search of Karoku when he was rescued from trouble by Gareki. When Gareki demands the bracelet in exchange for his help, Nai begins to travel with him and joins the National Defense Agency, “Circus,” after getting involved with them and a freight train high-jacking. Nai will learn many new things as works together with various people. Gareki too will find the doors opening to worlds he never knew of before.

When Sakura meets the boy, Rei, at school, she learns he's no simple transfer student. He's also a Code:Breaker, a government assassin with strange powers. Troubled by Rei's deadly secret, Sakura sets out to show him the importance of life.

The "dark hero" television anime series adapted Akimine Kamijyō's (Samurai Deeper Kyo) manga in Fall 2012. Yasuhiro Irie (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Kurau: Phantom Memory) directed the series at the studio Kinema Citrus.
