BFI London Anime Screenings in May (Updated)

Includes Tiger and Bunny: The Rising European premiere, Ghost in the Shell Arise, CGI Space Pirate Captain Harlock.

Update - The Space Pirate Captain Harlock screening has now been cancelled.

The May 2014 brochure for the BFI Southbank Centre in London (near Waterloo station) has confirmed the line-up for its 'Anime Weekend' on Friday May 16, Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18. All the screenings will be in NFT1, the largest cinema at the centre. (The screenings will be in addition to the ongoing Studio Ghibli season in May, see below.) The following films are scheduled:

Friday May 16

Patema Inverted 6.30 p.m.

Ghost in the Shell Arise Parts 1 and 2 8.50 p.m.

Saturday May 17

Space Pirate Captain Harlock - This screening is now cancelled.

Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo 845 p.m.

Sunday May 18

Double-bill of The Garden of Words and HAL 1 p.m.

Gekijō-ban Tiger & Bunny -The Rising- 3.10 p.m. This is the European premiere of the second feature film spun off from Tiger & Bunny (it is a sequel to the series).

One Piece: Strong World 6.10 p.m

Blue Exorcist The Movie 8.45 p.m.

In addition, the Studio Ghibli season at the BFI Southbank, which begins in April, will still be running through May as well. Details are here; the April screenings are available to book on the page, although the April 23 screening of Hayao Miyazaki's The Wind Rises is now sold out.
