D-Frag! Manga to Bundle Original Anime DVD

September 22 DVD to adapt Shrine Water arc from Tomoya Haruno's manga

The May issue of Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine is announcing on Wednesday that the ninth special-edition volume of Tomoya Haruno's D-Frag! manga will bundle a original anime DVD (OAD). The DVD will adapt the popular Shrine Water arc and ship on September 22.

The manga and subsequent television anime center around a notorious delinquent named Kenji Kazama. One day, he unexpectedly stumbles across a "game-making club" (working title) with club president Roka Shibasaki (game attribute: flame/darkness), club member and student council president Chitose Karasuyama (attribute: ground), club member and first-year student Sakura Mizukami (attribute: water), and club adviser/second-year teacher Minami Ohsawa (attribute: lightning). Kazama is half-forced to join the club, and the onetime gang member finds himself in an even stranger gathering of girls.

The OAD will share the same cast as the television anime:

Katsuyuki Konishi (Hetalia, Gurren Lagann) stars as Kenji Kazama

Kana Hanazawa (Coppelion, Guilty Crown) plays Roka Shibasaki

Shizuka Itou plays Takao-buchō

Chiwa Saito plays Chitose Karasuyama

Mikako Takahashi plays Sakura Mizukami

Emiri Katō as Noe Kazama

Ryoka Yuzuki as Takao's Mother

Jouji Nakata as Sean Konekone

Seiki Sugawara (Kids on the Slope, Akikan! episode director) is once again directing at the studio Brains Base (Natsume's Book of Friends, Penguindrum). Kentarou Matsumoto is also returning as character designer and chief animation director.

The series premiered on January 6 on TV Tokyo, and Funimation is streaming the anime as it airs in Japan. Haruno launched the manga in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2008. Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the manga in North America.
