Ao Haru Ride Anime's 1st Promo Streamed

TV anime adaptation of Io Sakisaka's youthful love story to premiere in July

The official website for the anime adaptation of Io Sakisaka's Ao Haru Ride shojo manga began streaming the first promotional video for the show on Monday.

The video features the following text:

    The love story during “true” youth that has over 4.7 million copies in print is earnestly turned into animation!
    They can't reach each other by just one millimeter.

The anime will star:

Maaya Uchida (Noragami's Hiyori, Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live's Wakana) as Futaba Yoshioka


Yūki Kaji (Guilty Crown's Shu, Attack on Titan's Eren) as Kō Mabuchi

Ai Kayano (Nagi no Asukara's Chisaki, Guilty Crown's Inori) as Yūri Makita

Mikako Komatsu (Nagi no Asukara's Miuna, Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live's Ito) as Shūko Murao

KENN (Samurai Flamenco's Anji, Hunter x Hunter's Phinks) as Aya Kominato

Daisuke Hirakawa (The Familiar of Zero's Julio Cesare, Hōzuki no Reitetsu's Momotaro) as Yōichi Tanaka

Ao Haru Ride revolves around Futaba, a girl who was in love with a boy named Kō Tanaka in middle school. However, after a misunderstanding, their relationship as friends ends when he transfers schools over summer vacation. In high school, her world is turned around once again when she meets Kō again, this time under the name of Kō Mabuchi.

Ai Yoshimura (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) is directing the series at Production I.G. Tomoko Konparu (Kimi ni Todoke, Uta no Prince-sama - Maji Love 1000%, Sunday Without God,) is in charge of the scripts.

A drama CD featuring the anime's cast will come with the limited edition of the 10th compiled volume of the manga on on May 23. Sakisaka wrote the original story in the drama CD. The CD will also have cast comments at the end of the CD.

Sakisaka began her Ao Haru Ride manga in the magazine in 2011, and Shueisha is shipped the ninth compiled volume in Japan last month. The manga was also ranked as one of the top 20 shojo manga recommended by professionals in the fields of manga and publishing. Viz publishes Sakisaka's Strobe Edge manga in North America.

The anime will premiere in July.
