Fist of the North Star Gets DVD Magazine

DVD, magazine celebrates 30 years since the broadcast of Hokuto no Ken TV anime

Publisher DeAgostini announced on Tuesday that Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's Fist of the North Star manga will have a biweekly Hokuto no Ken DVD collection magazine in Japan beginning in May. The DVD will sample scenes from various animated media from the franchise, and the magazine will include plenty of visuals and data explaining the beauty of the footage.

The magazine is being published to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 1984 anime adaptation of Buronson and Hara's Fist of the North Star manga, and will run for 58 issues. The DVDs will include footage sampled from the 152 episodes of the TV anime, four films, two original video animations (OVAs), as well as the 26 episodes of the spin-off DD Hokuto no Ken. The narration for the DVD will be done in the screams of the smallfry enemies that Kenshirō defeats.

Buronson and Tetsuo Hara's original post-apocalyptic fighting manga Fist of the North Star ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983-1988. The latest incarnation of the manga- the second DD Hokuto no Ken anime- aired last year. Crunchyroll streamed the anime outside of Japan.
