Free London Screening of Live-Action Thermae Romae

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Time-travel Roman comedy screened at Costa Coffee on Roman Road on July 3.

The Roman Road festival will hold a free London screening of the live-action Japanese film adaptation of Mari Yamazaki's Thermae Romae manga. The event is on Thursday July 3 at 6.30 p.m., in Costa Coffee on Roman Road. Roman Road can be accessed from Bethnal Green tube station; Costa Coffee's address is 554-556 (some online sources claim 567). The event can be booked here.

Starring Hiroshi Abe and Aya Ueto, the comedy film features Lucius, an architect of public bath houses (thermae) in ancient Rome, who time-travels to various modern-day baths in Japan. A live-action sequel, Thermae Romae II, was released in Japan this April. The original manga was also adapted as an anime series in 2012.
