Yamato/Ashita no Joe Voice Actor Shuusei Nakamura Passes Away

Voice of Yamato's Shima, Ashita no Joe's Rikiishi, Attack No. 1's Hongo
Shūsei Nakamura, a voice actor known for playing Tohru Rikiishi in the Ashita no Joe anime, passed away in a Tokyo hospital on July 30. He was 79.
Nakamura was born in Tokyo and after graduating from Ueda High School in Nakano Prefecture, he went to the nearby Shinshu University. He began acting on stage during the late 1950s, but he then made his foray into voice-acting with foreign films in the early 1960s. By the late 1960s, he delved into voice-acting for anime, notably as Coach Hongo in Attack No. 1, Yoshio Minami in Dokonjo Gaeru, and Daisuke Shima in the Space Battleship Yamato franchise.
