From the New World's Oikawa Launches Absolute Duo Spinoff Manga

The November issue of Kadokawa's Comic Alive magazine announced on Saturday that it will launch four new manga series in the December issue on October 27.
The new manga include a spinoff of Takumi Hiiragiboshi and character designer Yū Asaba's Absolute Duo light novel series. Tōru Oikawa (From the New World) will draw the four-panel comedy manga, which is titled Absolute Duo Tea Party (pictured top left in above image).
The original light novel series begins with Blaze — a weapon that is the manifestation of a human's soul. Tōru Kokonoe happens to be qualified for this, but for some reason his Blaze is not a weapon, but a shield. Moreover, he enrolled in a school that teaches combat skills, and thanks to the school's Duo partner system, he ends up living with a beautiful silver-haired girl.
Hiiragi-Boshi launched the light novel series with art by Yū Asaba in 2012, and Media Factory's MF Bunko published the fifth volume in June. Shinichirō Nariie launched a manga adaptation in Monthly Comic Alive magazine last July. Studio 8-Bit is producing a television anime of the light novel series.
Oikawa launched the manga adaptation of Yūsuke Kishi's award-winning 2008 speculative fiction novel From the New World in May 2012. The manga ended in June. Vertical is publishing the manga in North America.
Other new series in the December issue include: scriptwriter Hato and manga artist Masaki Kawakami's (Classmate, Kamimura Yūka wa Kō Itta.) Floor ni Maoh ga Imasu (The Devil King is On the Floor) manga (bottom left), Rei Kusakabe's (Nephylym, Akiba's Trip 2) manga adaptation of Haiya Kishi and character designer Purinpurin's Sensei, Machigattemasu. (Teacher, You're Mistaken.) light novel series (top right), and Kagura Takeshi's Ushinawareta Mirai wo Motome (To Search For the Lost Future) manga (bottom right).
