Japanese Film Festival to host Special Guest Keishi Otomo in Melbourne

The Japanese Film Festival for 2014 will host Keishi Ōtomo, the director of the live-action Rurouni Kenshin films, for a special screening of the trilogy and Q & A session. The screening will begin with Rurouni Kenshin, move into a Q & A session with Keishi Ōtomo, then screen Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends back to back followed with one final Q & A session with Otomo.
The screening will take place on Saturday the 29th of November at 1:00pm at Hoyts Melbourne Central.

Keishi Ōtomo
Otomo joined Japanese broadcasting network NHK in 1990 after graduating from the Law Faculty of Japan's prestigious Keio University. In 1997 he went to the U.S., and spent two years studying scriptwriting and directing in Los Angeles. On his return, he directed a series of prime time NHK TV programs. He is the recipient of many awards, both in Japan and abroad, including a Prix Italia, a Galaxy Award, an Arts Festival Award for Excellence, an International Drama Festival in Tokyo Award for Best Drama, an Élan d'Or Award, the Nikkei Hitmaker of the Year prize, and a Director's Award from the Hoso Bunka Foundation. Leaving NHK in 2011, he established himself as an independent director with the smash hit Rurouni Kenshin (2012) and Platinum Data (2013).
