Monogatari 'Final Season's' Tsukimonogatari Opening Streamed

Saori Hayami sings "Orange Mint" as Yotsugi Ononoki for New Year's Eve anime

The official website for Tsukimonogatari (Possession Story), the anime of the first story in the "Final Season" of the NisiOisin's Monogatari Series, began streaming the opening animation sequence on Saturday. The video features the opening theme song "Orange Mint" sung by the character Yotsugi Ononoki (as voiced by Saori Hayami).

The writer meg rock once again penned the lyrics, and Mito scored and arranged the song. (They also collaborated on the ending theme song for Hanamonogatari.) The relaunched music duo ClariS sing the ending theme song "border."

ZextWorks will offer a 2015 calendar, a clear desk mat, and a metal badge (with illustrations by Hajime Ueda) at the Gift booth at Comic Market 87 on December 28-30.

Animater and Gamer chain stores are offering a prize campaign to people who buy Monogatari Series visual items or the Hanamonogatari Songs & Soundtracks collection from December 24 to December 31.

For Tsukimonogatari, Hiroshi Kamiya and Saori Hayami reprise their roles as their characters Koyomi Araragi and Yotsugi Ononoki, respectively. Akiyuki Simbo returns as chief director of the anime, while Tomoyuki Itamura serves as director. The anime is once again produced at Shaft, and Akio Watanabe serves as animation director. Fuyashi Tou and Simbo are in charge of the series scripts.

All four episodes of Tsukimonogatari will begin running at 10:00 p.m. on New Year's Eve on the Tokyo MX station, the BS11 channel, and the niconico service. Aniplex will then release the episodes on two Yotsugi Doll Blu-ray Disc/DVD volumes on February 4 and March 4, 2015.

The Nisio Tsūshin newsletter had reported in 2012 that the anime adaptation of NisiOisin's entire Monogatari novel series has been "officially green-lit." The novels already inspired several previous anime adaptations from director Akiyuki Shinbo and the studio SHAFT. Zoku Owarimonogatari, the last volume for the "Final Season" of the novels, shipped in September with teaser page for "Monogatari Series, Next Season" and "Tsugimonogatari."
