Princess Kaguya Double-Bill at ICA London Sunday

Isao Takahata film shown together with 'making-of' documentary at cinemas across UK this Sunday

On Sunday March 15, several cinemas will be screening a double-bill of Isao Takahata's Oscar-nominated Ghibli filmThe Tale of the Princess Kaguya and the 'making-of' documentary film, Isao Takahata and his Tale of Princess Kaguya.

The ICA cinema in London (near Piccadilly) will show The Tale of the Princess Kaguya at 1.30 p.m., followed by Isao Takahata and his Tale of Princess Kaguya at 4.20 p.m. Tickets for the two screenings can be bought separately or together.

The Cornerhouse Cinema in York will show The Tale of the Princess Kaguya at 1.30 p.m., followed by Isao Takahata and his Tale of Princess Kaguya at 4.30 p.m. Tickets for the two screenings can be bought separately or together; all details here.

Hackney Picturehouse will show the double-bill starting at 12.45 p.m.

Ritzy Picturehouse will show the double-bill starting at 2 p.m.

Dukes at Komedia in Brighton will show the double-bill starting at 1 p.m.

The Cameo Picturehouse in Edinburgh will show the double-bill at 1.30 p.m.

The Picturehouse at Fact in Liverpool will show the double-bill at 6.40 p.m.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya will be released in more U.K. cinemas on March 20, and several other ICA screenings (between March 20 and March 26) can be booked here.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya is based on the famous Japanese folktale Taketori Monogatari (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter), which centers on a princess named Kaguya who was discovered as a baby inside the stalk of a glowing bamboo plant. The film won the Animation Film Award at the 68th Mainichi Film Awards.
