Will not hold 3rd event in California in October as previously planned

The organizers of Japan Expo USA announced on Monday that the California-based convention will go on hiatus until further notice. The American incarnation of France's Japan Expo convention had previously planned to return to the San Mateo Event Center in San Mateo, California from October 24 to October 25.

The convention noted that it attracted 5,534 unique visitors during its first event in Santa Clara, California in 2013, and then 6,456 unique visitors during its second event at San Mateo last year. However, the organizers said that they have not "been able to reach the goals we have set to ourselves" and therefore will not be holding the convention this year.

Japanese guests at the first two events included Ace Attorney art director Tatsurō Iwamoto, singer You Kikkawa, Evangelion manga creator and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, manga creator and character designer Yuusuke Kozaki, animator Akihiro Kanayama, character designer Daigo Ikeno, Kimagure Orange Road manga creator Izumi Matsumoto, screenplay writer Gen Urobuchi, Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, and director Shinji Aramaki.
