Aria the Avvenire Anime Unveils Story, New Characters, Visual

Kozue Amano draws new manga chapter that new anime will adapt

The official website of the Aria the Avvenire (Aria the Arrived) anime project unveiled the anime's story, episode titles, new characters, and a new visual on Friday. The website also announced the Blu-ray box release dates of the three previous Aria TV anime adaptations.

The new characters designed by Kozue Amano include:

Azusa B. McLaren
A Single undine working in Himeya company. Like her senior Aika, she is brave, direct, and self-confident. She doesn't look before she leaps when it comes to something that interests her. She notes any important information in her electronic organizer. She practices with Anya from Orange Planet.

Anya Dostoyevskaya
A Single undine working in Orange Planet, and Alice's junior. She has a calm and gentle personality, but sometimes demonstrates spontaneity, such as blurting out "From Siberia!" to anyone she has just met. She sometimes speaks in a literary tone. Like Azusa from Himeya, the famous Aria company weighs heavily on her mind.

Amano will also draw a completely new manga chapter that will serve as the basis for the story of Aria the Avvenire's third episode.

The anime will consist of three episodes: the first episode is titled "Sono Aitakatta Anata ni..." (To You, Who I Wanted to Meet...), the second episode is titled "Sono Atataka na Sayonara wa..." (That Warm Goodbye...), and the third episode is titled "Sono Harukanaru Mirai e..." (To That Far Away Future...). The first two episodes are two stories from the original manga that were not previously adapted into anime.

The first episode's story starts with Ai practicing on the gondola with Akari. As they travel through a canal, they meet Aika and Alice. All three have not had much time to meet since becoming Prima undines. Considering even the little time they spend together a "miracle," Akari remembers a certain incident and relates it to Ai.

The second episode's story begins with Ai relating a story to Akari of her experiencing a "miracle" while she was practicing. She saw Cait Sith as she was traveling down an unfamiliar path. When she disembarks from her gondola to follow it, she meets two Single undines from Himeya company and Orange Planet in the middle of practice.

The website also revealed the release date of the Aria the Animation, Aria the Natural, and Aria the Origination Blu-ray boxes. Each will contain a single episode of Aria the Avvenire. The Blu-ray box of Aria the Animation will ship on December 24 with the first Aria the Avvenire episode. Aria the Natural will ship on March 23, 2016, with the with the second Aria the Avvenire episode. Aria the Origination will ship on June 24, 2016, with the with the third Aria the Avvenire episode.

The official website unveiled a teaser video in April.

The anime will premiere in a special screening event on September 26.

The returning main cast includes:

Erino Hazuki as Akari Mizunashi

Chiwa Saito as Aika S. Granzchesta

Ryō Hirohashi as Alice Carroll

Sayaka Ōhara as Alicia Florence

Chinami Nishimura as President Aria

Junko Minagawa as Akira E. Ferrari

Kaori Mizuhashi as Ai

Late voice actress Tomoko Kawakami as Athena Glory

Mag Garden first revealed Aria the Avvenire in February via a new website, although the company removed the website soon afterward. Junichi Satō (Kaleido Star, Prétear, Sailor Moon) is again directing the anime at the studio TYO Animations. Sato is also in charge of series composition. The anime will also feature the return of Reiko Yoshida (Tokyo Mew Mew, Bakuman.), who will handle scripts. Masayuki Onji is designing the characters.

Shochiku is producing the anime as part of the larger "Ao no Curtain Call" (Blue Curtain Call) project, which celebrates 10 years since the broadcast of the first Aria anime.

Animation studio Hal Film Maker produced the first anime series Aria the Animation, and the series inspired two more television series in 2006 and 2008, as well as an original video anime in 2007. All three television series and the OVA starred Erino Hazuki as the protagonist Akari, Junko Minagawa as Alice, Kaori Mizuhashi as Ai, and Chiwa Saito as Aika, among others.

Right Stuf has licensed the three television series as well as the OVA in North America. ADV Manga released the first three of 12 total volumes of the original Aria manga series in North America, then Tokyopop released the first six volumes. Tokyopop also released the two-volume Aqua prequel manga in North America.
