Square Enix's Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine debuted a new series by Yoshiichi Akahito (Corpse Princess) in its August issue on Friday. The series is titled Saisei no Phantasma (the phantasma reconstructs the world.).

The battle fantasy manga revolves around a criminal's daughter, Shumari, and the young man who became her bodyguard, Tōgo. When Shumari is attacked by human-eating ghouls, Tōgo, a super-powered "adept," appears.

The same issue of Monthly Shonen Gangan also debuted the series Beelzebub-jō no Okinimesu Mama. (As Miss Beelzebub likes it.) by matoba (Majo no Shinzō). Meanwhile, Yen Hioka's Black Detective (Kuro no Tantei) and Shiwo Komeyama's Bloody Cross manga ended.

Akahito began Corpse Princess (Shikabane Hime) in 2005 and ended it in September after 23 volumes. Yen Press licensed the manga and will release the first volume digitally in November.

The manga inspired two anime series, Shikabane Hime: Aka and Shikabane Hime: Kuro. FUNimation Entertainment licensed both and released them in North America as Corpse Princess. Madman Entertainment licensed both for Australia and New Zealand.
