Company preparing to release information about 2015 Xbox lineup

Microsoft Japan announced on Friday that it will not attend this year's Tokyo Game Show. This year's event will run from September 17 to September 20 at the Makuhari Messe center in Chiba.

Microsoft Japan's Xbox category marketing group member Masashi Inoue responded to Famitsu's inquiry about the announcement:

2015 will provide an attractive game lineup for Xbox, including exclusive titles. This year, Microsoft will not exhibit at Tokyo Game Show, but we are making various preparations to convey the latest Xbox information to fans and the press. We will make an announcement as soon as preparations are in order.

Microsoft attended last year's Tokyo Game Show (pictured above) and provided stations at its booth to showcase upcoming games. Microsoft Japan launched the Xbox One console in Japan on September 4, two weeks before last year's Tokyo Game Show.

Microsoft Japan sold 23,562 Xbox One consoles in its first four days in Japan. In comparison, Sony sold 322,083 PlayStation 4 units during the console's opening weekend in Japan in February 2014.

Microsoft attended this year's E3 convention that took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 16 to June 18.
