aiko provides song "Aizu" as October 17 film's theme song

The official website of the live-action film adaptation of Atsuko Nanba's popular shōjo high school romance manga Senpai to Kanojo began streaming a trailer for the film on Friday. The trailer reveals that aiko will contribute her song "Aizu" (Sign) as the theme song for the film.

The manga's story centers around the first-year student Rika Tsuzuki, and third-year student Keigo Minohara. Keigo is Rika's senpai (upperclassman) in a club, and Rika harbors feelings for him. Keigo treats Rika with carefree kindness, but he himself harbors feelings for a popular girl who already graduated from their school.

The previously announced cast includes:

Jun Shizon as Keigo Minohara

Kyōko Yoshine as Rika Tsuzuki

Riria Kojima as Aoi Okita

Junki Tozuka as Tetsuo Yada

Kaho Mizutani as Yūko Momodani

Makiko Watanabe will also play a yet-unnamed role in the film.

The film will open in Japan on October 17. Chihiro Ikeda (Tōnan Kadobeya Nikai no Onna, Mister Home) is directing the film, with scripts by Kiyoto Wada. Masamichi Shigeno will handle the music.

Nanba (Taiyo wa Kimi ni Kagayaku, Sprout, Tonari no Atashi) launched the manga in Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend magazine in 2004, and Kodansha published the second and final compiled book volume in 2005. The manga has over 1 million copies in print.
