Ars Magna, Hōkago Princess to perform theme songs for anime premiering on October 6

The staff of the DD Hokuto no Ken 2 Ichigo Aji+ anime program that is adapting both the DD Hokuto no Ken and the Hokuto no Ken: Ichigo Aji spinoff gag manga announced on Friday that the "2.5 dimensional cosplay dance unit" Ars Magna will perform the opening theme song, and the "academy idol group" Hōkago Princess will perform the ending theme song. The opening animation will feature the "DD" characters dancing an original Ars Magna dance, and the ending animation will feature characters in sailor suits.

The official website for the "Ichigo Aji" side of the program also began streaming a promotional video on Thursday.

The program will premiere on October 6 on TV Tokyo, and it will air on Tuesdays at 1:35 a.m. The series will also air on TV Osaka and TV Aichi.

Akitarō Daichi will return from the 2013 anime to direct the "DD2" part of the program, and Mankyū (Mobile Suit Gundam-san, Tono to Issho) will direct the "Ichigo Aji" side of the program. The cast from the 2013 DD Hokuto no Ken anime series will return for the "DD2" side of the program.

The "DD2" side of the program will follow Kenshirou at "Seikimatsu Gakuen" (End of the Century Academy).

Kajio's DD Hokuto no Ken spinoff gag manga previously inspired a DD Hokuto no Ken short anime, which was a series of anime shorts that premiered in 2011. The manga also inspired another television anime series that premiered in 2013.

The manga is set "in the year 199x, mankind was … not engulfed in the flames of nuclear war?

"In the 21st century, the characters of Fist of the North Star are living in peaceful Japan. In particular, Kenshirō is a convenience store worker, Raoh works at a factory, and wracked by illness, Toki is looking for work. The legend of the Fighting NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) North Star begins in the modern day."

Kajio launched the manga in Monthly Comic Zenon's first issue in October 2010.

The cast for the "Ichigo Aji" side of the program includes:

Banjō Ginga as Souther
Katsuyuki Konishi as Kenshirō
Takashi Matsuyama as both Fudō and Raoh
Toshiyuki Morikawa as Shin
Kishô Taniyama as Yuda
Junichi Suwabe as both Shū and Toki
Kōsuke Toriumi as Rei
Yūko Minaguchi as Yuria
Daiki Yamashita as Bat
Shōta Aoi as Lin

Buronson and Tetsuo Hara — the creators of the original Fist of the North Star post-apocalyptic fighting manga — are credited with the original work for Hokuto no Ken: Ichigo Aji. Kawata writes the manga's scenarios, Imōto Yukito draws the manga, and Yukito is credited with collaboration.

The gag manga centers on a fun version of the Holy Emperor Souther as he tries to find ways to become friends with Kenshirō, demonstrates his party techniques, and sometimes plays with the Gosha Sei.

Imōto Yukito, Yukito, and Kawata launched the manga on Tokuma Shoten's Web Comic Zenyon website in 2013, and the publisher shipped the fourth compiled volume in June.
