Live-Action Nobunaga Concerto Trailer Introduces Characters

The official website for the live-action film of Ayumi Ishii's Nobunaga Concerto historical manga began streaming a trailer for the film on Tuesday. The trailer introduces the film's characters and previews its theme song "Ashioto ~Be Strong" (Footsteps ~Be Strong) by Mr. Children.
Text: 1582, the Honnōji incident.
Saburō: Why did you do this? Why?!
Narrator: Saburō time traveled from present day to the Warring States period, and met Oda Nobunaga, who looked identical to him.
Nobunaga: Can you live as Oda Nobunaga, my replacement?
Saburō: What?
Text: The famous drama gets a long-awaited movie.

Saburō: You've gotta be kidding me.

Kichō: You will die? I cannot believe that. Stop uttering this idiocy.
Saburō: It's true, I'm telling you.
Kichō: Silence!
Hideyoshi: Let us correct time and kill the false one, Lord Nobunaga.
Man: My lord!
Saburō: Why don't we get married? Let us live together.
Man: Let's go!
Kichō: Why are you going? Didn't you say we would live together?
Saburō: I'm glad I met you in this age, Kichō.
Mitsuhide: The enemy is at Honnōji!
Saburō: Someday, an age of peace will come. Someday, for sure.

The trailer will begin running in theaters in Japan on Saturday. The film will open in Japan on January 23.
The cast of the live-action television television series which premiered last October are reprising their roles for the film. The cast includes:
- Shun Oguri (live-action Lupin III, Captain Harlock, Detective Conan) as Saburō
- Arata Furuta (live-action Ranma 1/2, 20th Century Boys, Captain Harlock) as Hisahide Matsunaga
- Kou Shibasaki (Battle Royale, Detective Conan: Private Eye in the Distant Sea)as Kichō
- Osamu Mukai (live-action Nodame Cantabile, Beck) as Tsuneoki Ikeda
- Takayuki Yamada (Densha Otoko movie, live-action Bakuman.) as Denjiro Tahara
- Gaku Hamada (Miss Hokusai, live-action Space Brothers) as Tokugawa Ieyasu
The story centers around Saburō, a high school boy who time-travels to Japan's Sengoku Era. He must become Oda Nobunaga, the famed warlord who helps unite Japan.
Ishii launched the manga in the inaugural issue of Gessan in 2009, and Shogakukan published the 12th compiled volume on April 12. The manga ranked #10 in the Male Readers category of the "Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" list by Takarajimasha Inc. in 2012. The manga was nominated for the fifth Manga Taisho awards in 2012, and it won the Boys' Category of the 57th Shogakukan Manga Awards later that year. The manga was adapted into a television anime series that premiered in Japan in July last year. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. The anime was nominated for The Banff World Media Festival's Rockie Awards.
