Staff, cast to return for anime shipping on March 4

The wraparound jacket band on the 19th volume of Akira Hiramoto's Prison School manga is revealing on Friday that the manga will get an original anime DVD (OAD). The OAD will be bundled with a limited edition of the manga's 20th volume, which Kodansha will publish on March 4. The cast and staff of the television anime will return for the OAD. In addition, Mikako Takahashi joins the cast as Mitsuko.

The OAD will feature the previously unanimated "Mad Wax" arc from the manga, after Spoiler (highlight the following white text to read) Kiyoshi and the others leave the facility.

Additionally, the cover of the electronic version of the first 2016 issue of Kodansha's Young Magazine is revealing on December 7 that the manga now has more than 7.5 million copies in print.

North American publisher Yen Press prints the manga for North America, and it describes the series:

Hachimitsu Private Academy was a revered and elite all-girls' boarding school on the outskirts of Tokyo...once upon a time. But with the new school year comes a revision to school policy: Boys are to be admitted into the student body for the first time ever. But on his first day at Hachimitsu, Kiyoshi Fujino discovers that he's one of only five boys enrolled at the school. Their numbers overwhelmed by the thousand girls in the student body, is it heaven or hell that awaits these five (un)fortunates?!

Hiramoto launched the manga in Kodansha's Young Magazine in February 2011. Yen Press published the manga's second English volume on November 17. The manga won the Best General Manga award alongside Yūji Moritaka and Keiji Adachi's Gurazeni manga at Kodansha's 37th Annual Manga Awards in 2013.

The 12-episode television anime adaptation premiered on July 10, and Funimation streamed the anime with English subtitles as it aired in Japan, and also streamed the series with an English broadcast dub. A live-action television series adaptation premiered in Japan on October 25.
