Sentai Filmworks Licenses Azumanga Daioh Anime (Update)

posted on by Karen Ressler
2002 anime based on 4-panel manga was previously released by ADV

Sentai Filmworks announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the Azumanga Daioh anime and plans to release the series on home video as part of its Sentai Selects line. The release will have both English-subtitled and English-dubbed formats.

ADV Films previously released the 2002 anime, while ADV Manga published Kiyohiko Azuma's original four-panel manga in North America. Yen Press has since re-released the manga series.

Update: Sentai Filmworks confirmed with ANN that the license does not include the Azumanga Daioh - The Very Short Movie OVA. ADV Films released the short as an extra on its sixth and final DVD set for the series, as well as its 2008 complete series set.
