Nobunaga Concerto drops to #3, Girls & Panzer stays in top 10 after 15 weekends

The live-action film of Makino's shōjo manga Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai opened at #1 at the Japanese box office this past weekend. It pushed The Martian to #2, after that film had topped the chart for three straight weekends. Kurosaki-kun sold 157,680 tickets to earn 190,705,900 yen (about US$1.689 million) on 158 screens. Its opening box office take is 81.6% of Heroine Shikkaku (No Longer Heroine), another live-action film based on a shōjo manga. Kurosaki-kun is poised to eventually earn over 1 billion yen (US$8.9 million).

The live-action film of Ayumi Ishii's Nobunaga Concerto historical manga dropped from #2 to #3 in its sixth weekend. It sold 145,240 tickets for 213,671,300 yen (US$1.891 million) at 324 screens over the weekend, and now has a cumulative total of over 2.7 billion yen (US$24 million). If the film maintains its momentum, the Eiga.com website projects that the film could eventually earn 4 billion yen (US$35 million).

Girls und Panzer dropped from #8 to #10 in its 15th weekend in 77 theaters. It was the film's second weekend after adding the immersive, multi-sensory 4DX experience to select theaters.

Gekijōban Tantei Opera Milky Holmes: Gyakushū no Milky Holmes opened on just 11 screens with 16 million yen (US$140,000). That gives the film a high per-screen average of about 1.5 million yen (US$13,000), despite not ranking on the weekend box office chart.

The anime film of Asumiko Nakamura's Dōkyūsei (Classmates) boys-love manga dropped from #9 off the chart in its second weekend.
