New 3DS games launch along with new Yo-kai Watch Model Zero toy this fall

Nintendo announced on Monday that Level-5's Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls games will debut on the Nintendo 3DS in the United States on September 30. In addition, Disney XD will run the second season of the Yo-kai Watch anime this summer. Nintendo's press release describes the second season which continues the story of invisible supernatural Yo-kai Watch beings in the human realm:

This season, join Nate, Whisper and Jibanyan as they get the new Yo-kai Watch Model Zero. But just because he has a new watch, that doesn't mean Nate's life will get any easier. Season 2 has more Yo-kai, more miniseries, more episodes and, most importantly, more laughs! Tune in to see how a new cast of Yo-kai interrupts Nate's normal life in unexpected and hilarious ways.

The DVD release of the first season will ship in the United States in late 2016.

The Yo-kai Watch 2 games feature "many new areas to explore outside of Springdale, more than 100 new Yo-kai, a new-and-improved in-game Yo-kai Watch and even the ability to travel back in time!" Each of the two editions have their own unique rare Yo-kai.

This fall, Hasbro is introducing a Yo-kai Watch Model Zero toy that ties into the one seen in the second anime season. The watch can project animation of a particular Yo-kai character when that character's Yo-Motion Yo-kai Medal is inserted into the watch.

The rest of the franchise will continue this year, including Viz's release of the manga, the trading card game, and the Yo-kai Watch Wibble Wobble game app.

Level-5 announced the Yo-kai Watch franchise in 2011 with a game, manga, and anime already planned. The first game for the Nintendo 3DS shipped in Japan in July 2013. The television anime then premiered in January 2014. The first two editions of the Yo-kai Watch 2 games shipped in Japan in July 2014 under the titles Ganso (Founder) and Honke (Head). The first game and anime then launched in the United States last year. The Yo-kai Watch 3 games, whose stories are set in the United States, will ship in Japan on July 16.
