Gundam: The Origin IV & Loum Arc Teased in Visuals

posted on by Egan Loo
Char/Sayla Arc's finale arrives in Fall, followed by Battle of Loum story in 2017

The Gundam.info portal site posted a teaser visual from this fall's Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin IV: Unmei no Zenya (Fateful Eve) anime episode on Saturday.

The site also posted images from the teaser trailer for the anime's Loum Arc, which will launch next year.

The ongoing screenings of the anime's third episode, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III: Dawn of Rebellion (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin III Akatsuki no Hōki), ended with a teaser that confirms that the current Char/Sayla arc of the anime will end with the fourth episode. According to the teaser, the fourth episode will feature Char's "fateful encounter" with the girl Lalah sune, the first Gundam anime's protagonist Amuro Ray, and "the legendary Dr. Minovsky" (whose physics breakthroughs eventually led to mobile suit warfare). The episode will also cover the development of the MS-04 and the RX-78 Gundam mobile suits, as well as the first ever mobile suit battle in history.

The screenings also ended with announcement that production has been green-lit for the Loum Arc that will cover the Battle of Loum. The Loum Arc's teaser trailer ran after the announcement.

The third episode began screening in 15 theaters in Japan for two weeks on Saturday. A limited-edition version of the Blu-ray Disc is on sale at the theaters screening the episode, and the standard Blu-ray Disc and DVD will ship in Japan on June 10. The episode follows the youth who would become known as Char Aznable and his future comrade Garma Zabi after they join the Zeons' military academy.

The original video anime's first episode, titled "Blue-Eyed Casval," premiered in a limited engagement in Japanese theaters in February 2015. The second episode, "Artesia's Sorrow," opened in Japan last October. Anime Consortium Japan is releasing the series digitally worldwide through a premium rental streaming program, and Right Stuf — in collaboration with Sunrise — is releasing the series on home video.

The anime project adapts Yoshikazu Yasuhiko's manga of the same name, which in turn is inspired by the first Mobile Suit Gundam anime's story.
