Sentai Filmworks releases film on June 28 starring Brittany Karbowski, Andrew Love, more

Sentai Filmworks revealed the English dub cast and June 28 release date on Wednesday for its release of the Hakuoki: Demon of the Floating Blossom: Wild Dance of Kyoto (Hakuōki Dai-isshō Kyoto Ranbu) anime film.

The English dub cast, under director Christopher Ayres and ADR script writer George Manley, includes:

In addition, Christopher Ayres, Cameron Bautsch, Clint Bickham, Shannon Emerick, Tyler Galindo, Ned Gayle, Adam Gibbs, Houston Hayes, Bryan Kaplun, George Manley, Joel McCray, Margaret McDonald, Stephen E. Moellering, Rob Mungle, Shannon Reed, Gabriel Regojo, John Swasey, Allen Titel, and Gareth West are credited for additional voices.

Sentai Filmworks describes the film:

There's a war going on in ancient Kyoto. A war fought in shadows, between the forces of the Shogunate's armed enforcers, the Shinsengumi, and the vampire-like Ronin warriors known as the Rasetsu or Furies. And trapped in the middle is a young woman disguised as a man. Seeking her missing father, Chizuru Yukimura comes to Kyoto only to find her fate forever intertwined with the destinies of Shinsengumi Vice commander Toshizo Hijikata and his elite force of swordsmen. Because Chizuru's father has created a secret elixir that enhances the user's strength, speed and healing, and the furies will do anything and kill anyone in order to control that power! Historical fact and nightmarish fiction combine as the world of the hit series HAKUOKI returns in a stunning new epic feature film: HAKUOKI: WILD DANCE OF KYOTO!

Hakuōki Dai-isshō Kyoto Ranbu is the first of a two-part film project. The film opened in Japan in 2013 and the sequel, Hakuōki Dai-nishō Shikon Sōkyū, opened in 2014. Sentai Filmworks will also release the sequel film under the title Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom: Warrior Spirit of the Blue Sky.

The main Japanese cast from the previous anime projects returned the film. Osamu Yamasaki directed the film, and he co-wrote the film's script with Tsunekiyo Fujisawa. Atsuko Nakajima returned to adapt Yone Kazuki's original character designs for animation, and she also served as chief animation director. Kenji Kawai took over for Kō Ōtani for the film's music. Studio DEEN again animated the film.

Sentai Filmworks has also licensed and released the original Hakuōki television anime, the Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom - Dawn of the Shinsengumi prequel series, the Hakuōki: Record of the Jade Blood sequel series, and the Hakuōki: A Memory of Snow Flowers OVA.

Hakuōki: Otogisōshi, new short anime series featuring SD characters, premiered in April.
