Actor to also graduate from male actor group D-BOYS

Actor Ryūki Takahashi announced on his blog on Wednesday that he will retire from the entertainment business to focus on his health and medical treatment. He will also graduate from the male actor group D-BOYS.

He apologized to his fans for the sudden announcement, and thanked them for their support.

In his post, he states that he had noticed something unusual about his health last month. When he went to the hospital, he was told that he would require a thorough checkup, and was eventually told that he required long-term recuperation. He consulted with family members and staff, and decided that he needed to retire to take care of his health.

He further notes that, after he recovers, he wants to "take the next step."

Takahashi played the role of the protagonist Ryōma Echizen for the stage musical adaptations of Takeshi Konomi's The Prince of Tennis in five productions from 2008 to 2010. He also played the character Kengo Utahoshi in the Kamen Rider Fourze series and in the films, and the character Yūya Kitaoka in the live-action television series Mahō Shōjo o Wasurenai.
