Voice actress Yumi Shimura announced on her blog on Thursday that she retired from acting as of June 30. She posted a farewell message to fans and members of the industry.
Thankfully, my 14 years as an actress have been nothing but fun, and everyone at the office, all my seniors and juniors, and all the people involved with recording have shown me kindness and love. I will never forget meeting you all and receiving your support and kind words. Also, I give my thanks to all those who have cheered for me up until now. I'm so glad to have met you. Thank you very, very much.
Shimura is known for her roles as Kanaria in Rozen Maiden, Chisame Hasegawa in the Negima! anime franchise, Wakaba Ogino in Cuticle Detective Inaba, and Cocona Vatel in Ar Tonelico II. She also contributed to theme song performances for various Negima! anime.
Her talent agency, I'm Enterprise, also announced that she was leaving.
