OLDCODEX Band Reveals More of Yorke's Injuries, Delays Concert

Painter/lyricist had concussion, rib fracture, injuries to hand & leg

The official website for the rock band OLDCODEX reported on Wednesday more details on the injuries that band painter and lyricist YORKE. (pictured right) sustained in a fall during Monday's concert. The website also announced that the band is delaying a concert that was scheduled for Saturday.

The band was performing on Monday at the Yamaguchi Civic Hall as part of the OLDCODEX Tour 2016-2017 "Fixed Engine." During the encore performance of the song "kick out," YORKE. fell off the stage and lost consciousness. He underwent a CT scan and other tests at a hospital emergency room, and he was diagnosed with a contusion.

YORKE. returned to Tokyo to undergo advanced examinations on Wednesday. According to these more thorough examinations, he sustained a cerebral concussion, rib fracture, and injuries to his left hand's triangular fibrocartilage and his right leg's femur tendon.

YORKE. emphatically desired to perform again, but under his doctor's orders, the band is delaying the tour stop that was planned for Saturday at the Fukuoka Sun Palace Hotel and Hall. The band apologized to fans who looked forward to Saturday's concert, and the staff is looking into rescheduling and ticket refunds.

As soon as more information is available, the band's home page and the event's organizers at BEA will announce the details. The staff will also announce any updates regarding the concerts scheduled for next week and beyond.

YORKE. himself posted a message in which he recalled having a mysterious dream, in which he could hear many voices calling for him. The stage director held YORKE. in his arms and called out, "YORKE., can you hear my voice?" over and over again. YORKE. would realize what happened to him — including falling off the stage and losing consciousness — after hearing about the details later.

YORKE. noted that the hospital in Yamaguchi examined him and determined that immediate surgery was not needed and that he had no external injuries. However, he received the more detailed diagnosis that was posted on the website from his doctor in Tokyo.

When he regained consciousness, he could comprehend the damage to his body from hitting the concrete hard. He will not forget the faces in the audience bursting into tears as the shocking scene played out before them, and he wants to perform again at Yamaguchi no matter what to change those tears into smiles.

YORKE. thanked his band partner Tatsuhisa Suzuki (pictured left in photograph above) for calming the audience and the staff for responding quickly with support. He added that he is very grateful to hear that a nurse in the audience assisted at the scene. He vowed to his fans to return to the stage.

Since Suzuki co-founded the band in 2009, the members have performed songs for the anime togainu no chi, Kuroko's Basketball, Future Diary, Arata The Legend, Bakuman. 3, Free! and Free! Eternal Summer, Q Transformers: Kaettekita Convoy no Nazo, God Eater, High Speed! -Free! Starting Days-, and Servamp.
