posted on by Karen Ressler
Anime film adaptation premiered last year

Seven Seas Entertainment announced on Friday that it will release Fumiyo Kōno's In This Corner of the World (To All The Corners Of The World) manga in North America in one large-trim omnibus volume this fall.

Seven Seas describes the story:

1940s Hiroshima. Suzu, a young bride, leaves her home to join her new husband, a member of the Japanese navy, at a military base in the port city of Kure. Confronted with the challenges of a new life, Suzu must also come to grips with a world at war and her beautiful home collapsing around her. Unwilling to give up hope, Suzu holds on to happiness to persevere through the trials of war.

Sunao Katabuchi (Mai Mai Miracle, Black Lagoon) directed an anime film adaptation that premiered last November in Japan. The film won the Hiroshima Peace Film Award at the Hiroshima International Film Festival, Kinema Jumpo magazine's best Japanese movie of the year, and the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.

JManga previously released the manga in English online. The manga series won an Excellence Prize in the 13th Japan Media Arts Festival, and it already inspired a live-action television special in 2011.

Last Gasp Publishing and jaPRESS released Kono's manga Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms in North America.
