Convention holds 1st electronic music concert on July 3

The organizers of the Anime Expo convention announced on Tuesday that musicians ☆Taku Takahashi, Teddyloid, and Pa's Lam System will perform at this year's convention. The musical artists will perform at Neon District, the convention's first electronic music concert, on July 3 from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The organizers will announce more artists for the concert later.

Record label Attack the Music is collaborating with the convention to hold the concert. The concert event will feature Japanese DJs, a beer garden, and limited-edition merchandise. People must be at least 18 years old to attend the event. Regular tickets will cost US$40, and VIP tickets will cost US75 with a limited meet and greet option available for an additional US$50. Tickets will go on sale for Premier Fans on April 21 and for general attendees on April 23.

Takahashi, a member of the musical group m-flo, has provided music for the Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Space Dandy television anime. He performed the opening theme song "Ebi Sukui" for Hyouge Mono.

Teddyloid also performed at the convention last year. Teddyloid began his music career at 18 years old as a DJ and sound producer for MIYAVI. He composed music for the Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt television anime series, contributed background music to the Mekaku City Actors anime, and performed the ending theme song for Space Patrol Luluco. He contributed music to the Japan Animator Expo's "ME! ME! ME!" music video and the "ME! ME! ME! CHRONIC feat. daoko / Teddyloid" music video.

The Pa's Lam System unit is composed of members Jūden, Yunbo, and Shunichi. The group known for its electronic dance music has performed in Japan and the United States. The trio released their major label debut "Twiststep" last August.

This year's Anime Expo convention will run from July 1 to July 4 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. In addition, the convention will formally include a preview night a day before on June 30. The Super Dimension Fortress Macross singer and voice actress Mari Iijima will return to the convention this year. Akira Himekawa, the manga creator duo known for their manga adaptations of Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda games, is also attending the convention.
