Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter Anime Films Get Manga

The July issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki G's Comic magazine revealed on Tuesday that the Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō (Yuki Yuna Is a Hero: Washio Sumi Chapter) theatrical anime project will get a manga adaptation, which will launch in the magazine's next issue in June. Nitaka Ichifuji will draw the manga.

The Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō anime project consists of three films. The first film, Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō: Tomodachi (Friend), opened in Japan on March 18. The second film, Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō: Tamashii (Soul), opened on April 15. The third film, Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō: Yakusoku (Promise), will open on July 8.

The anime films adapt Takahiro and illustrator BUNBUN's illustrated novel series Washio Sumi wa Yūsha de Aru (Washio Sumi is a Hero). Project 2H is credited as the original creator, Takahiro (Minato Soft) is credited with the original plan designs, and BUNBUN is credited with the original character designs. Seiji Kishi, who directed the first anime season, is the chief director.

The films are one part of the overall second season of the Yuki Yuna Is a Hero anime series. The season will premiere on television in October in two parts. Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shō takes the three films and will screen them as six television episodes. Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru: Yūsha no Shō will then air as a direct sequel to the first season.

The first anime's story takes place in the era of the gods, year 300. Yūna Yūki lives an ordinary life as a second year middle school student, but she's also a member of the "Hero Club," where club activities involve dealing with a mysterious being called "Vertex."

The 12-episode anime series premiered in October 2014, and Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan. Ponycan USA released the anime in three Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo packs in North America in 2015.
