Boom Boom Satellites Band Gets Documentary Film

Bassist Masayuki Nakano performed band's final concert on Sunday

The "Front Chapter - The Final Session - Lay Your Hands on Me Special Live" concert announced on Sunday that a documentary film for the band Boom Boom Satellites has been green-lit. The concert, which was held at Tokyo's Shinkiba Studio Coast venue, marked the end of the band's 27 years of activity.

Masayuki Nakano (pictured bottom in image right), the band's bassist, performed at the concert. The band's vocalist/guitarist Michiyuki Kawashima (top in image right) passed away on October 9. The singer had been suffering from partial paralysis as an aftereffect of his fourth brain tumor relapse.

Nakano announced last June that the band's "Lay Your Hands On Me" EP release would be their last work due to Kawashima's condition. Nakano commented on the release and Kawashima's condition at that time, and his comments were translated into English on the band's official Facebook page. The EP shipped on June 22, 2016.

Kawashima had suffered his fourth brain tumor relapse in August 2015. The band had cancelled concerts in Osaka and Tokyo last November due to his worsening condition.

Boom Boom Satellites first debuted in Europe in 1997, and they released their ninth album Shine Like A Billion Suns in February 2015. The group has created music for anime projects such as Appleseed and Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan. They also performed theme songs for Xam'd: Lost Memories, Mobile Suit Gundam UC, Ninja Slayer From Animation, and contributed to Guilty Crown. Their latest and last song "Lay Your Hands On Me" debuted as the opening theme song of Studio Trigger's Kiznaiver television anime.
