Live-Action Impossibility Defense Mini-Series' Trailer Previews Theme Song

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
4-episode mini-series premieres December 22 before film's February 1 opening

The official website for the live-action mini-series adaptation of Yūya Kanzaki and Arata Miyatsuki's Funōhan (Impossibility Defense) manga began streaming a trailer for the series on Wednesday. The video previews the series' theme song "Oroka Mono-tachi" (Fools) by GLIM SPANKY, which will also be the theme song for the upcoming live-action film adaptation.

The four-episode mini-series will premiere on dTV on December 22, and will premiere a new episode every Friday. Like the film, the series will star Tori Matsuzaka (live-action Gatchaman's Ken Washio the Eagle, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger's Takeru Shiba) as Tadashi Usobuki (pictured below) and Erika Sawajiri (live-action Helter Skelter, Shinjuku Swan) as Tomoko Tada. Eisuke Naitō is directing the series, with scripts by Junpei Yamaoka.

The film will open in Japan on February 1. Showgate streamed a trailer in October:

Kanzaki and Miyatsuki launched the manga in Shueisha's Grand Jump magazine in 2013. Shueisha published the sixth compiled volume on September 19.

The suspense manga centers on Tadashi Usobuki, a man who wears a black suit and is able to kill others through the power of suggestion and by warping their thoughts. Although Tadashi often appears at the scene of the crime of these unnatural deaths, no one is able to prosecute him because police can never find any proof.

Kanzaki's Ouroboros manga ended in January. The manga inspired a live-action television series that premiered in January 2015.
