New company to produce anime, game, VR content

Media company Avex Pictures and anime studio Graphinica announced on Monday that they have jointly established the "Flagship Line" company on the same day. The new company will produce anime, game, and VR content. It will leverage the development and production capabilities of Graphinica, and the planning and operational architecture of Avex Pictures.

Avex Pictures producer Ryo Oyama is the new company's representative director and president. Avex Pictures representative director/president Hideo Katsumata, Memory-Tech representative director/president Yutaka Ueda, and Graphinica representative director/president Nobuhiro Ito are all members of the company's board. The company has 100 million yen (US$902,500) in capital.

Avex Pictures and Graphinica collaborated for the first time on last year's Jūni Taisen anime.

Avex Pictures acquired game developer and animation production company Ixtl in July 2017. Avex Management and media company Hakuhodo DY Media Partners launched a partnership to develop a "VR Story Seek" program that will develop VR movie and video content to enhance clients' "brand experience."

Graphinica, a subsidiary of Memory-Tech Holdings, became the parent company of anime studio TYO Animations after Memory-Tech Holdings acquired the company last December. Graphinica and Memory-Tech Holdings changed TYO Animations' name back to Yumeta Company, reviving an old name that was retired in 2009 when the original Yumeta Company merged with Hal Film Maker to form TYO Animations. Memory-Tech Holdings a;sp fully acquired Pony Canyon subsidiary Pony Canyon Enterprise on March 20.
