Seishun Buta Yarō Anime Reveals Video, Additional Cast, Songs

The official website for Seishun Buta Yarō wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai (The Young Pig-Rascal Isn't Dreaming of a Bunny Girl Upperclassman), the television anime of Hajime Kamoshida's Seishun Buta Yarō light novel series, revealed the second promotional video, additional cast, and opening and insert songs for the series on Monday. The video previews the anime's theme songs. (Note: video linked on official website below is region-locked to Japan.)
Yūma Uchida will play Sakuta's friend Yūma Kunimi, Himika Akaneya will play Yūma's girlfriend Saki Kamisato, and Satomi Satou will play the female television announcer Fumika Nanjō.
The all-female band the peggies will perform the opening theme song "Kimi no Sei" (Your Fault). The idol group Sweet Bullet will perform the insert song "BABY!" The insert song will ship on the single CD for the ending theme song "Fukashigi no Karte" (Mysterious Chart), which the anime's six main heroines are performing, on October 3.
The anime's first two episodes will have an advance screening event at 109 Cinemas Shōnan in Fujisawa, Kanagawa and at United Cinema Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo on September 15. The anime's main cast will appear at the events.
The anime will premiere on ABC TV on October 3 at 26:15 (effectively October 4 morning at 2:15 a.m.). It will then air on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, BS11, and Nagoya Broadcasting Network on October 6.
In the story, there's a rumor about a mysterious phenomenon call "puberty syndrome." For example, Sakuta Azusagawa is a high school student who suddenly sees a bunny girl appear in front of him. The girl is Mai Sakurajima, Sakuta's upperclassman and also a famous actress who has gone on hiatus from the entertainment industry. For some reason, the people around Mai cannot see her bunny-girl figure. Sakuta sets out to solve this mystery, and as he spends time with Mai, he learns her secret feelings. Other heroines who have "puberty syndrome" start to appear in front of Sakuta.
Sōichi Masui (Sakura Quest, Chaika - The Coffin Princess) is directing the series at A-1 Pictures' studio CloverWorks. Masahiro Yokotani (Free!, Re:ZERO) is in charge of series composition, and Satomi Tamura (animation director for Kiznaiver, Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend) is designing the characters. Tamura is also serving as chief animation director with Akira Takata (After the Rain, Natsume's Book of Friends). Kazuya Iwata (episode director for Your Lie in April, Recently, my sister is unusual.) is assistant director, and Yukihiro Shibutani (Case Closed, Natsume's Book of Friends) is art director.

Novel illustrator Keeji Mizoguchi drew the previously revealed character visuals for the anime.

Kadokawa published the first novel in the series, also titled Seishun Buta Yarō wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai, in April 2014. Keeji Mizoguchi provides the illustrations. Kadokawa published the eighth volume on April 10.
Tsugumi Nanamiya launched a manga adaptation of the first novel volume in the January 2016 issue of Dengeki G's Comic magazine. Kadokawa published the first volume in October 2016. Tsukumo Asakusa launched a manga adaptation of the second novel, Seishun Buta Yarō wa Puchi Devil-kōhai no Yume wo Minai (The Young Pig-Rascal Isn't Dreaming of a Petit Devil Underclassman), in the May issue of Dengeki G's Comic on March 30.
Kamoshida and Mizoguchi previously worked together on The Pet Girl of Sakurasou (Sakurasō no Pet na Kanojo) light novel series, which inspired a 24-episode television anime series in 2012-2013.
