Toshiki Masuda replaces Hiroki Narimiya as main character

Kadokawa's Famitsu.com website previewed thumbnails for this week's issue of the Weekly Famitsu magazine on Tuesday. The preview reveals that the PlayStation 4 version of the Yakuza 4 (Ryū ga Gotoku 4: Densetsu o Tsugumono) game will launch in Japan on January 17.

In addition, revising and re-recording some of the character Masayoshi Tanimura's lines became necessary. Therefore, the game will replace actor Hiroki Narimiya with Toshiki Masuda as Tanimura. Narimiya originally voiced the character and provided the inspiration for his appearance. Narimiya retired from the entertainment industry in 2016 after allegations of cocaine use surfaced.

Sega originally released Yakuza 4 in Japan in 2010 and in the West in 2011.

Sega released Yakuza Kiwami, a full remake of the original Yakuza game, in Japan for PS3 and PS4 in January 2017. Sega then released the game in English on PS4 in August 2017. Sega released Yakuza Kiwami 2, a similar remake of Yakuza 2, in Japan for the PS4 on December 7, and released the game in English on August 28.
